Coaster Stock @ Carowinds

So Chris, Mike, Katie, and myself went to CoasterStock @ Carowinds and it was a blast. The day started out with ERT on After Burn. Lucy’s crabby cabbie. (no comment about mike) Flying Ace Aerial Chase, and Woodstock Gliders. Ater ERT we roamed the park and found this game. with these as prizes. And we all Know what happened next. We tryed to beat up Snoopy, but he was to strong for us. lunch came with fried chicken, hot dogs and sides, it was good nothing to write home about, but we did get a free souvenir cup, and wrist bands for free refills. Then we got a Q&A with Bob Manpe from B&M. (and yes we are all waring Intamin shirts) We had to get a group shot here. After lunch Patchman had the greatest idea ever, ride the bumper cars with the clubs. (even the ride op thought it was funny as hell!) Then came dinner with prime rib which was awesome, then we were told what our surprise was a back stage tour of Intimidator. We got to go under the station and geek out. They even let us hold some wheels. Then we got to go the electrical room. (I double dog dare you to pull it) They even had some blue prints out for us. Leaving the area I got this pic. (this is...

Blue Streak Is BACK!

Source: MeadVille Tribune Theme Park Central is unsure as to why this story hasn’t been given more publicity. It was found by one of our own when he “stumbled upon” it. Thanks, Mike for the heads up! 🙂  We congratulate Conneaut Lake on being selected to receive a $50,000 grant from Pepsi Refresh for this ongoing project. 🙂 Ride On! – Katie Blue Streak is up and running, ready for big weekend! CONNEAUT LAKE — “It was great. What else can I say?,” Dave Hahner said Thursday, just moments after taking his second ride on the Blue Streak. That’s right: For the first time since 2006, Conneaut Lake Park’s historic roller coaster is back up and running, once again ready, as Jack Moyers, chairman of the board of Trustees of Conneaut Lake Park, put it, “to bring thrills and chills to children of all ages.” Pittsburgh resident and American Coasters Enthusiasts historian Hahner, along with about 10 other ACE members and a group of local park supporters and media members (this lucky reporter included) were the first to ride the newly restored, 72-year-old Blue Streak on Thursday before it was officially opened to park-goers. The Blue Streak’s re-opening is “a great milestone,” said Moyers, who recently said park officials were confident it would be operational by Labor Day weekend. Being one of only two Ed Vettel-designed coasters still standing...

Say Goodbye to Geauga Lake’s Big Dipper

Any hopes of saving Geauga Lake’s iconic Big Dipper roller coaster have now been dashed. On Tuesday morning, the owner announced that the coaster will be demolished in the near future. In an email message through his representative, the owner said: “I am the owner of THE BIG DIPPER (sic) roller coaster in Aurora, Ohio. I have determined that the deadline for the sale of The Big Dipper cannot be met. I have decided to demolish the Dipper and end the existence of this wonderful roller coaster. This is a painful but necessary decision.” The deadline was set for September 15. Cedar Fair of Sandusky, Ohio, closed Geauga Lake’s amusement park in September 2007 and left its Geauga Lake Wildwater Kingdom in operation. Some of the amusement park rides were sent to its other parks, while others were sold. An auction was held on-site for the remaining rides and artifacts. Some of the other rides that had been up for auction include: the Double Loop coaster; two SkipperLiner paddle wheel boats; the Intamin Space Tower; the Chance Pirate Ship; the Eli Scrambler; the Raging Wolf Bobs coaster; the Mack Himalaya; and the Sansel Flume. The owner, who remained anonymous, had an agent buy the Big Dipper for him during Cthe auction of the rides and artifacts at the park on June 18, 2008. Because Cedar Fair hasn’t yet sold...
